Minimum Version Required: 26.09
Pre-Conditions
Your user role must have permissions to process electronic payment check transactions.
Remote Check Capture must be enabled for your system account.
A working camera or access to clear image files of the front and back of the check is required.
Steps
Resolving Immediate Scanning Errors
When processing a check payment, scan or upload the check image as prompted.
If the system detects an issue with image clarity or lighting, an error alert will immediately appear displaying the specific reason for rejection.
Follow the on-screen recommendation to re-capture or re-upload a clearer image of the check.
Submit the new image. The system will continue processing the transaction without requiring you to restart the payment workflow or re-enter payment details.
Handling Pending and Failed Check Reviews
If a check image passes initial capture checks but requires additional details verified (such as MICR line or check amount validation), the payment status will be updated to Pending Review.
Allow 1 to 2 business days for the manual review to complete. Do not re-submit the payment during this window to prevent duplicate processing.
If the check fails verification during review, the payment status will update to Failed. Select an alternative payment method to complete the transaction.
Fields And Definitions
Fields And Definitions:*
Image Out of Focus / Blurry: The text or numbers on the check are unreadable. Ensure camera lens focus is sharp before capturing.
Image Too Dark: The image lacks sufficient lighting. Capture the check in a brighter environment.
Image Too Light: Glare or bright reflections prevent text readability. Move away from direct lighting or disable flashlight settings.
Image Too Small: The check image does not fill enough of the frame. Position the camera closer to the check.
Image Cannot Be Processed: The image orientation or boundary detection failed. Place the check flat on a contrasting background and retry.
Pending Review: The check is undergoing manual optical character recognition (OCR) or secondary review. The funds remain unconfirmed until verification completes.
Failed: The check could not be verified or was rejected permanently. Another payment method must be selected.
Best Practices
Best Practices:*
Lay the check flat on a dark, non-reflective surface to create strong contrast around the edges of the check.
Ensure all four corners of the check and the bottom MICR numbers are fully visible and free of obstruction or shadows.
Avoid using camera flash, as reflections on shiny check paper can obscure critical banking numbers.
Monitor the payment ledger or status log regularly for checks placed in a Pending Review status to ensure timely follow-up if an alternative payment method becomes required.
