Steps

Build Barcode Images (Scheduled Task)

Build Barcode Images is a background task that runs automatically on a schedule. You don't run it yourself, but you may see it listed in the System Scheduler. Here's what it does each time it runs:

  1. Scans all active Products and collects every UPC, Case UPC, and Unit UPC value on file.

  2. Checks each code against the barcode images already generated for your account.

  3. Generates a new barcode image for any code that doesn't have one yet (skipping codes that already have an image).

  4. Saves each new image so it's ready to display wherever barcodes are used in Encompass.

Best Practices

  • This task requires no action from you — it runs automatically in the background to keep barcode images current.

  • When you add a new product or a new UPC/Case UPC/Unit UPC to an existing product, its barcode image won't appear until this task next runs.

  • These images are what you see on Pricing Reports, pricing spreadsheets, the WMS Bar Code lookup tool, and Sales Objectives (Carrier Barcode) — if one of those is missing a barcode image, it typically resolves after the next scheduled run.
