What the Update DateConversions Scheduled Task Does
Update DateConversions is an automated background process — it isn't something you run or configure yourself. You may notice it listed in the system's Scheduled Tasks screen running on a regular basis (typically daily). Here is what happens each time it runs:
Extends the calendar - It checks the DateConversions table, which is Encompass's master calendar table, and adds any missing future dates so the calendar always reaches about 10 years ahead.
Recalculates calendar attributes - For every date, it fills in fields such as Year, Quarter, Month, Week, Fiscal Month, Fiscal Quarter, and whether the date is a Business Day. These are calculated using your company's configured settings — which day the week starts on, your fiscal year start month, and whether Saturdays and/or Sundays count as business days.
Rebuilds business day tracking - It rebuilds the BusinessDayCalculations table, which tracks business days per location, covering roughly 15 days in the past through 4 months ahead.
Refreshes dependent reports - If any calendar data changed, it flags the affected tables so that reports and dashboards grouped or filtered by date (week, month, quarter, fiscal period, or business day) pick up the updated calendar information.
Best Practices
No action is needed from you - this task runs automatically to keep your reporting calendar current.
Encompass's date-based reports (by week, month, quarter, fiscal period, or business day) depend on this task completing successfully, so it should not be turned off or disabled.
