Steps

CleanCacheTags Scheduled Task

  1. Encompass stores frequently accessed data in a temporary, high-speed cache to keep the system fast. Cached items are grouped into tags so related entries can be found and cleared together later (for example, when the underlying data changes).

  2. Every cached item has an expiration time. When an item expires, it is removed automatically, but the reference to it inside its tag group can be left behind.

  3. The CleanCacheTags task scans these tag groups on a regular schedule and removes references to items that have already expired.

  4. If a tag group ends up empty after cleanup, the task removes the group entirely.

  5. This keeps the caching system running efficiently and prevents it from using more memory than necessary over time.

  6. This task runs automatically in the background. It requires no input from you and does not change, delete, or affect any of your business data — it only manages temporary, internal system cache files.

Best Practices

  • No action is needed when you see CleanCacheTags running in the scheduler — this is expected, routine system maintenance.

  • Leave this task enabled. Disabling it can cause the system's cache to grow larger than necessary over time, which may slow performance.
