Minimum Version Required: 26.01

Pre-Conditions

  • System Access: Must have permissions to access the Report Library and Operations Reports.

  • Product Data: Must have active sales/invoice transaction history for the items being projected.

  • Calendar Configuration: Business days must be defined in the system settings if attempting to use business-day-specific calculations.

Steps

  1. Identify the Report Type: Determine if you are using the Canned Inventory Projections report or the Fusion version. The Canned report uses a fixed 7-day calculation, whereas the Fusion version allows for logic adjustments.

  2. Verify the Calculation Logic:

    • Canned Report: This report calculates the daily average by dividing total sales by the total calendar days in the period (e.g., 7 days). It then multiplies that daily average by 7 to reach the weekly depletion.

    • Fusion Report (Use Business Days = No): This mimics the Canned report logic ($Total Sales div Total Days$).

    • Fusion Report (Use Business Days = Yes): This "squeezes" the sales into a shorter work week by removing weekends from the divisor.

  3. Cross-Reference with Invoice Transaction Report: * Run the Invoice Trans Report for the same date range and Product ID.

    • Manually calculate the daily average: $ ext{Total Units} div ext{Total Days in Period}$.

    • Compare this to the "Avg Daily Depletion" shown in your Projection report to see which logic is currently being applied.

  4. Adjust Filters for a 5-Day Selling Week: If your weekly totals appear overstated because they include non-selling days (weekends), switch to the Fusion Inventory Projections report and set the filter Use Business Days = Yes.

    • Note: This will increase the Daily average but will align the Weekly average to a 5-day work week (Daily Avg $ imes$ 5).

  5. Contact Support: If the values in the Fusion report still do not align with your manual calculations from the Invoice Transaction Report, or if you require the Canned report to be modified for your environment, contact support.

When contacting support, please provide the following:

  • Exact Error/Discrepancy: Specify the Product ID and the "Expected" vs. "Actual" values.

  • Report Filters: Provide a screenshot of all filters used (Date Range, Period, Use Business Days, etc.).

  • Supporting Data: An export of the Invoice Trans Report for the same period.

  • Comparison Math: The exact steps and logic you used to arrive at your expected value.

  • Timestamp: The date and time the discrepancy was first observed.

Fields And Definitions

  • Avg Daily Depletion: The calculated average number of units sold per day over a specific period.

  • Avg Weekly Depletion: The projected number of units sold per week; calculated as (Avg Daily Depletion $ imes$ Days in Selling Week).

  • Canned Report: A standard, out-of-the-box report with hard-coded logic that typically follows a 7-day calendar week.

  • Fusion Report: A customizable report engine that allows for advanced filtering, such as excluding non-business days.

  • Use Business Days: A filter toggle that determines whether the report divisor includes weekends/holidays or only "selling days."

Best Practices

  • Use Fusion for Flexibility: Leverage the Fusion version of reports when your business logic deviates from standard 7-day calendar weeks.

  • Standardize Dashboard Reports: If you update your reporting logic, ensure the new Fusion reports are updated across all shared Dashboards to maintain "one version of the truth" for all end users.

  • Audit Business Calendars: Periodically verify that your system business calendar correctly identifies non-selling days to ensure "Use Business Days" filters function accurately.
