What the Recreate Reports Database Task Does

This is one of Encompass's automated background maintenance jobs. You may see Recreate Reports Database listed on your Scheduled Tasks screen, but it runs on its own — there's nothing you need to set up or click to use it.

Each time it runs, it:

  1. Clears your report run history so old cached report results aren't reused after cleanup.

  2. Removes old temporary tables from your Reports database that were created while reports ran and are no longer needed.

  3. Rebuilds several core reporting tables (LineAggs, LoadSheet, Plans, and Events) to keep them running efficiently.

  4. If your account uses a Data Warehouse, cleans up old temporary report tables and views there as well.

  5. Refreshes the search index behind AI-powered report search, for accounts with that feature enabled.

Best Practices

  • It's normal to see Recreate Reports Database running in your Scheduled Tasks screen — it's routine system maintenance, not an error.

  • This task is what prevents report performance from gradually degrading over time, so it should stay on its regular recurring schedule rather than be disabled.
