Minimum Version Required: 25.01

Pre-Conditions

  • Admin Access: You must have administrative privileges in both Encompass and your QuickBooks Online account.

  • Intuit Credentials: You have access to your Intuit Developer Portal to verify Keys and OAuth settings.

  • Browser Requirements: Use a modern browser (Chrome or Safari are recommended).

  • Oauth Settings: Oauth Settings have been generated for the site

Steps

Error Message:"The redirect_uri query parameter value is invalid"

This error typically occurs when there is a mismatch between the credentials stored in your system and the Intuit Developer portal, or when cached browser data prevents QuickBooks Online from recognizing the authorization request.

Pre-conditions

Before beginning troubleshooting, ensure you meet the following requirements:

  • Admin Access: You must have administrative privileges in both Encompass and your QuickBooks Online account.

  • Intuit Credentials: You have access to your Intuit Developer Portal to verify Keys and OAuth settings.

  • Browser Requirements: Use a modern browser (Chrome or Safari are recommended).

Steps to Resolve

Follow these steps in order. If one step resolves the issue, you do not need to proceed to the next.

1. Verify OAuth Settings

Mismatched credentials are the most common cause of "invalid redirect" errors.

  • Navigate to your system's OAuth Settings.

  • Log in to your Intuit Developer Portal and locate the Keys & OAuth page.

  • Compare Client ID: Ensure the App ID in your system matches the Client ID from Intuit exactly.

  • Compare Client Secret: Ensure the App Secret in your system matches the Client Secret from Intuit exactly.

  • Update: If there is any discrepancy, update the fields in your system to match Intuit and save changes.

2. Clear Browser Cache and Cookies

Stale data can "confuse" the redirect process.

  • In your browser, press Ctrl + Shift + Delete (Windows) or Cmd + Shift + Delete (Mac).

  • Set the time range to All Time.

  • Select Cookies and other site data and Cached images and files.

  • Click Clear Data.

3. Attempt Sync in Incognito/Private Mode

This ensures no extensions or remaining cache interfere with the connection.

  • Open a new Incognito (Chrome) or Private (Safari/Firefox) window.

  • Log into your site and attempt the Connect to QuickBooks process again.

4. Disconnect and Re-authorize

If the connection is "stuck," you may need to reset the link.

  • Locate the Company Record in your system.

  • Find the GL Company ID field and clear the value (delete the ID).

  • Save the record.

  • Return to the QuickBooks Online Sync Setup and attempt to re-authorize the connection.

Best Practices

  • Use Incognito Mode for Setup: When first linking QuickBooks and Encompass, always use an Incognito window to ensure a "clean" authorization handshake.

  • Secure Secrets: Never share your App Secret or Client Secret in unencrypted emails or public tickets.
