Steps
Generate Purchase Orders:
Use the PO Generator to create purchases for products intended to meet demand for other locations.
As shown below, the purchase will have transactions with the transfer to location set for other locations
Important Step! Review the PO and update the status to "Ordered" once it has been sent to the supplier or vendor.
How the Automated Transfer is created:
1. Once the shipment is received in the "primary" location, the Auto Transfers From Transfer To Purchase Trans scheduled task will run within 15 minutes and a transfer invoice will be created for the "primary" location
2. In order for the transfer invoice to be created, the following conditions must be met:
The shipment must be received
The total ordered must equal the total (num units) received for the entire purchase.
It is important to point out that products that are not included in sales reporting (Product Types - Include in Sales Reports by Default = False) will be ignored. This means that if dunnage products, such as empty pallets are added to the purchase during receiving, that will not prevent the transfer from being created.
3. The transfer invoice will have a Load Sheet date = The default will be the Receive Date + 1 business day, however the routing method associated with the transfer routes used.
4. The transfer purchase for the "other" locations will be created using the existing transfer planner EDI logic.
5. Once the transfer invoice is created, the transfer to location will be cleared out on the original purchase. This is to prevent duplicate transfers from being created.
AlternateLocations
Regarding the auto transfer process for items where 'use alternate location' is set to true or false on the inventory record, this give distributors even more control of what product they want to transfer vs. what products they want to process through the alternate locations workflow.
If the forecast location has an alternate location equal to the receive location, and the forecast location's product 'Use Alternate Locations' is TRUE on the inventory record, this product will not qualify to be automatically transferred. However, if 'Use Alternate Locations' is FALSE, that product will qualify for automated transfers.
Alerting
If for some reason the automated transfer does not get created, users can set up and subscribe to an Uncreated Transfer Notification alert.
Go to the alerts table and filter on alert type = 47) Uncreated Transfers Notification
If there is not an alert with alert type 47, create a new alert
Click the Sub Table button and select Alert Users
Click Add Alert Users
In most cases, the alert will be sent if the purchases is in received status and the total amount ordered does not match the total amount received.
