Pre-Conditions

This guide is to help Users with Splitting volume off of an existing Batch and then consuming it into another Batch (AKA Production Order).

Requirements for this to work are:

  1. The "from" Production Order in the Batch that is being split from has a status of either In Progress or Completed.

  2. IF IN PROGRESS: there is an available, empty tank to hold the WIP being pulled off of the Production Order.

  3. The "to" Production Order is scheduled with a status of either in New or In Progress.

  • Splitting a batch reduces the volume of the from batch

  • Note: Costing will be locked in at the time of the split function. Whatever the "from" Production Order is valued at per unit at the time of the split will follow the volume pulled off of it and blended into subsequent Production Orders. EX: there are 10bbls valued at $100. When 1bbl is split, the 1bbl will be worth $10 and will roll up into any costing for any Production Order it is blended into. The remaining 9bbls in the "from-batch" will be valued at $90.

Steps

Before Proceeding: Be confident that the users is splitting from and to the correct Production Orders. It is difficult to unwind a split and blend.

The following steps will ensure costing is accurate and batch tracing works for split and blended batches.

Splitting from IN PROGRESS Production Orders:

  1. Navigate to the Batch Management dashboard.

  2. Filter to the Production Order needed to split from.

  3. Click Split Batch.

  4. Confirm the data in the dialogue is the product and stage wanted to execute the split.

  5. Click Split Into Equipment.

  6. Select the equipment wanting to transfer the WIP product into.

  7. Enter Transfer Quantity.

  8. Click Split Batch to execute the transfer.

  9. Navigate to the Batch Management dashboard and find the Production Order that the user wants to blend into.

  10. The Product that was split in steps 4-8 needs to be added as a "Component" in this Production Order.

  11. Consume the Product that was split from the previous batch in the Production Order that we are blending into.

Splitting from COMPLETED Production Orders:

  1. Navigate to the Batch Management dashboard and find the Production Order that we want to blend into.

  2. Add the Product that was created when the "from" Production Order was completed as a component on the Production Order we are blending it into.

  3. Process the Production as normal, consuming the material from the other Production Order.

Fields And Definitions

  • From Batch - the Batch that has a Production Order in it that users are pulling volume off of to redirect to a new batch or a different tank.

  • To Batch - the Batch that has a Production Order in it that users are transferring volume from another batch into.

  • Production Order - The set of stages that comprise a continuous workflow as part of a batch.

Best Practices

  • Double check that users are splitting from and to the correct batches. This is a difficult process to reverse.
