Access to manage Special Events in ECP
Steps
Setting Up Special Events:
1. Navigate to the Special Events configuration in ECP
2. Create events for holidays, promotions, or other sales-impacting dates
3. Assign events to specific Locations (warehouses/distribution centers)
4. Set the Impact value to indicate expected sales change:
Positive values indicate increased sales
Negative values indicate decreased sales
The magnitude reflects how significant the impact is
How Events Affect Predictions:
5. The system tracks two event-related factors:
IsEventWeek: Whether the forecast week contains a special event
IsEventNextWeek: Whether the following week contains an event
6. Events influence predictions by signaling expected deviations from normal patterns
7. The EventImpact value is factored into the AI model's calculations
Fields And Definitions
Event: Name/description of the special event
Date: Specific date the event occurs
Location: Which warehouse/location the event applies to
Impact: Numerical value indicating sales impact magnitude
Active: Whether the event is currently active (1 = active)
Is Event Week: System-calculated flag if current forecast week has an event
Is Event Next Week: System-calculated flag if next week has an event
Event Impact: The impact value used in predictions
Best Practices
Configure events well in advance so the system can anticipate changes
Be consistent with impact values - use similar scales across all events
Include both positive events (holidays, promotions) and negative events (known slow periods)
Events are location-specific - ensure they're assigned to all relevant locations
Review event configurations annually to ensure dates are updated for recurring events
The more historical data with events, the better the system learns event patterns
