OBJECTIVE:

The purpose of this document is to outline the process of taking the Vehicle Verification Survey on the handheld. The Vehicle Verification survey is used to confirm the vehicle that is being used forthe day. This is important to make sure the DOT survey is taken forthe correct vehicle, and Fleet Tracker looking at the correct Plan.

Accessing the Vehicle Verification Objective

The Vehicle Verification Objective will be a part of the Event created by the Assignment Group. It will be listed in the user’s “My Day” page. This event will have the same name as the Assignment name that was created during the initial setup.

From the Encompass Mobile homepage:

  1. Click the “My Day” button

  2. In the My Day section, locate the Vehicle Verification event

  3. This event will have the same name as the assignment that was created during the initial setup

  4. Tap on the Event

  5. Locate the Vehicle Verification Event

  6. Tap on the Vehicle Verification task. It is possible that there may be multiple tasks in the event, such as DOT Survey, depending on how the assignment was configured

Completing the Vehicle Verification Objective

Within the Vehicle Verification Event, the user will be prompted to complete a vehicle verification. This will require the user to scan a vehicle barcode with their device’s camera.

  1. The barcode camera scanner will automatically open

  2. If this is the first time that the scanner has run on the device, you may be prompted to grant camera access to the Encompass Mobile application

  3. Hold the device so that the barcode lies within the crosshairs

  4. When the barcode has been accepted, the system will check the barcode against the expected vehicle. If the barcode is for a different vehicle than the one assigned, the user will be asked to confirm the change

  5. If the vehicle has a trailer, the user will be prompted to scan the trailer barcode after scanning the cab barcode

  6. After all barcodes have been scanned, the user will be prompted to confirm with the server

  7. The screen will return to the Vehicle Verification event

  8. The task will be marked with a blue-filled icon to denote that the task has been completed successfully
