Zones Overview

Promotions Zones allow you to connect a group of customers to a single promotion. By grouping customers with similar characteristics into a reusable zone, you can quickly and flexibly apply unique pricing for specific periods. Examples of common Zones might be Military, Chain-Specific, or Geographically based. A Promotions Zone can be further grouped under a Market or it can be used on a Promotion, depending on internal processes or preferences for Promotion management.

Customers can belong to multiple Promotions Zones, and each Zone can contain many customers. For example, a single liquor store might be in zones for their county, their city, and for all independent stores. This flexibility allows Encompass to apply the lowest qualifying price across all promotions a customer is eligible for.

Promotions Customers Overview

Promotions Customers connect a single customer directly to a promotion. This is most effective for unique pricing scenarios that don't apply to a wider group, such as for samples, donations, or special negotiated rates. Using Promotions Customers saves time by directly applying pricing to a single customer, rather than creating a separate group for just one or two individuals.

1. Using Universal Search, navigate to the Promotions table

2. Search and Select a Promotion to view

3. Find (or add) the Promotions Customers sub table

4. Reivew and add Promotions Customers, as needed to tie individual Customers to the Promotion via the "Add Promotions Customers" button

Promotions Zones or Promotions Customers?

Q: How do I know when to use Promotions Zones versus Promotions Customers?

A: The choice between Promotions Zones and Promotions Customers comes down to efficiency: whether you need to apply a promotion to a large group of customers or to a unique, individual customer.

Promotions Zones

Use Promotions Zones when you want to apply a promotion to a large group of customers who share a common characteristic, like a specific chain or location. This is the most efficient method for promotions that will apply to many people. By putting customers into a zone, you can connect the entire group to a promotion with a single record, saving you from having to make dozens or even hundreds of individual connections.

Promotions Customers

Use Promotions Customers for unique, single-customer pricing scenarios. This is the ideal choice when a promotion applies to only one or a few customers, such as for a donation, sample, or negotiated pricing. Instead of creating a zone for a single customer—which would require extra steps—you can connect that customer directly to the promotion, making the process faster and more direct.
