Minimum Version Required: 22.05

Pre-Conditions

  • Site is a Production site that has Batch Management and Batch Processing turned on (SystemSetting553=True)

  • Packages have been set up for all Finished Goods to be produced

  • Packaging Equipment has been built

Steps

Packaging Run Rates are used to calculate run time for packaging orders in Encompass.

The system will calculate: LeadTime + (ProductionOrders.PlannedUnits/PackagesPerHour)=x

Example: A Packaging run rate for a canning Line is set to 100 units of 2/12 pack/12oz Cans per hour with a 20 minute lead time:

When a Packaging for 500 cases of 2/12 pack/12oz cans is scheduled, the canning line will be considered in use for 5 hours and 20 minutes: 20min+(500cases/100csper hour):

Packaging run rates will need to be set for every Pack Type that will be run on a packaging line.

Fields And Definitions

  • Setup Time: The time it takes to set up the packaging line before packaging can begin

  • Packages per Hour: the number of units of a certain package type that the packaging line can produce per hour

Best Practices

  • Packaging Run rates are calculated in minutes

  • Packaging lines can be double booked; this will not prevent operators from performing their tasks.

  • Do not sweat perfecting run rates; they are used to get a general idea of what kind of time blocks a packaging run will take. Actual packaging times in real life change often and will not prevent operators from performing their tasks.
