Minimum Version Required: 24.03

Pre-Conditions

Recipe Configuration: The packaging Recipe Version must have the 'Track Serial Num' field set to True. This setting is configured in the Recipe Management Dashboard.

System Setting 3181: Next Available TTB Case Serial Number must be configured. The value entered for "Next Case Serial Number" must be greater than the EndSerialNumber of the largest ID currently recorded in the Production Packaging Logs table.

Product Type: The product being packaged must be classified as a spirit.

Production Order Status: The Production Order Status must be greater than "In-Process" to access printing features.

Printer Setup: For PDF preview and printing, the selected printer must have PrinterType set to 1) PDF Laser. Otherwise, printing will occur in ZPL mode.

Steps

A. Initial Setup and Configuration

1. Configure Next Available TTB Case Serial Number:

  • Navigate to System Settings.

  • Locate Setting ID 3181: Next Available TTB Case Serial Number.

  • Set the numerical value for the next available case serial number. Ensure this number is higher than any existing EndSerialNumber in ProductionPackagingLogs.

2. Enable Serial Number Tracking on a Recipe Version:

  • Navigate to Recipe Management dashboard.

  • Select the relevant Packaging Recipe Version for your spirits product.

  • Edit the Recipe Version and set the Track Serial Num field to True.

B. Packaging and Serial Number Recording Workflow

1. Create a Production Order:

  • Create a new Production Order for the spirits product, ensuring it uses a packaging Recipe Version with 'Track Serial Num' set to True.

  • Set the Planned Units for the order.

2. Perform Packaging in Production Processing:

  • Navigate to the Production Processing Dashboard (Dashboard ID: 183629) for the created Production Order.

  • Click the Packaging button.

  • Enter the Packaging Units (e.g., 200).

  • Click Save.

  • The system will automatically add a record to the ProductionPackagingLogs table for this packaging run, recording the Start Serial Num and End Serial Num for the packaged units.

  • Repeat this step for each batch of units packaged (e.g., input another 300 units, click Save). Each packaging instance will create a new record in ProductionPackagingLogs.

C. Printing Case Labels

1. Access Print Case Label Feature:

  • From the Production Processing Dashboard for a relevant order, ensure the product is spirits, the order status is > 4-In-Process, and Track Serial Num is true. The Print Case Label button will be displayed.

  • Click the Print Case Label button.

2. Select Packaging Logs for Printing:

  • A list of ProductionPackagingLogs records associated with the current order will be displayed.

  • Select one or more records for which you wish to print case labels.

3. Initiate Printing:

  • If your printer's PrinterType is 1) PDF Laser, a PDF preview will be displayed, allowing you to review before printing.

  • For other printer types (e.g., ZPL Label), the system will generate a Print Job.

D. Handling Reverse Operations (Undo, Correct, Cancel)

  • Updating Production Packaging Logs Status: When an Undo, Correct, or Cancel operation is performed on a Production Order:

  • The Status of the associated records in the ProductionPackagingLogs table will be automatically set to Canceled.

  • Regenerating Records: If packaging is performed again after an Undo, Correct, or Cancel operation, new ProductionPackagingLogs records will be generated with a Status of Normal.

  • Printing Logic: The printing functionality will filter out and only print labels for ProductionPackagingLogs records with a Status of Normal.

Fields And Definitions

RecipeVersions.TrackSerialNum: A boolean field found on packaging Recipe Versions. When set to True, it enables the system to track and generate case serial numbers for production orders using that recipe.

Setting 3181: Next Available TTB Case Serial Number: A system-wide setting that stores the next available generic TTB-compliant serial number to be assigned.

ProductionPackagingLogs Table: A new table introduced to store detailed information about individual packaging runs within a Production Order. Each entry includes:

  • Start Serial Num: The starting serial number of the cases packaged in that specific run.

  • End Serial Num: The ending serial number of the cases packaged in that specific run.

  • Status: Indicates the state of the packaging log record.

    • Canceled: The packaging run represented by this log has been undone, corrected, or canceled.

    • Normal: The packaging run represented by this log is active and valid for printing.

ProductionOrders.StartSerialNum & ProductionOrders.EndSerialNum: These fields are no longer displayed on the Production Order as the serial number tracking has been moved to the more granular ProductionPackagingLogs table to support discontinuous serial number ranges.
