Written by Bailey Naas-Thornton

Minimum Version Required: 22.01

Pre-Conditions

  • User must have appropriate permissions to modify WMS Move Tasks and Move Task Transactions

  • The Move Tasks and Move Task Transactions you want to update must already exist in the system

  • The import action must be set to either "Update Only" or "Update Or Add" (the routine ignores records when set to "Add Only")

  • Sufficient inventory must exist in the source bins when status changes trigger inventory movements

Steps

EDBL Routines Disclaimer: This EDBL routine represents advanced functionality primarily intended for use by Encompass technical staff. While technically proficient customers may utilize these routines, please be aware that they fall outside the scope of standard support. Assistance with EDBL routines is not covered under standard support agreements and may require billable services from our Professional Services team. Please ensure you thoroughly understand this routine before implementation in your production environment

This EDBL routine allows you to update the status of existing WMS Move Tasks or individual Move Task Transactions. Depending on the status change, the system will automatically create appropriate bin transactions to move inventory between bins.

The routine can operate in two modes:

  • Update Move Tasks: When you provide WMSMoveTaskID and WMSMoveTaskStatus, the routine will update the main task status.

  • Update Move Task Transactions: When you provide WMSMoveTaskTransID and WMSMoveTaskTransStatus, the routine will update individual task transaction statuses.

Status changes trigger different behaviors:

  • When updating a transaction status from New to InTransit, the system creates bin transactions to move inventory from the source bin to an in-transit bin

  • When updating a transaction status from InTransit to Completed, the system creates bin transactions to move inventory from the in-transit bin to the destination bin

  • When updating a transaction status from New to Completed, the system directly moves inventory from the source bin to the destination bin

The routine automatically handles inventory movement based on the WMS Move Task type (Replenish, PutAway, Move, etc.) and assigns the appropriate BinTransType.

If you're updating the main Move Task status to "Completed," all associated task transactions will be processed accordingly

Fields And Definitions

For Updating Move Tasks:

  • WMSMoveTaskID: The ID of the WMS Move Task to update

  • WMSMoveTaskStatus: The new status for the WMS Move Task (numeric value)

For Updating Move Task Transactions:

  • WMSMoveTaskTransID: The ID of the WMS Move Task Transaction to update

  • WMSMoveTaskTransStatus: The new status for the WMS Move Task Transaction (numeric value)

Common Status Values:

  • Move Task Status: New (0), Printed (1), Completed (2)

  • Move Task Transaction Status: New (0), InTransit (1), Completed (2)

Best Practices

  • Verify that the referenced WMS Move Tasks and Transactions exist before importing

  • Ensure source bins have sufficient inventory before attempting status changes

  • Consider the impact of status changes on your warehouse operations - bulk updates through EDBL will trigger real inventory movements

  • For complex moves involving license plates or batches, verify that all required relationships are properly configured

  • After running the import, verify that bin transactions were created correctly and inventory was moved as expected

  • Always test status changes in a non-production environment first to understand their full impact
