Steps
The SurveyQuestions EDBL routine imports survey questions into the system. It takes data from your import file and creates new survey question records. This routine primarily supports adding new records to the SurveyQuestions table.
The routine performs the following actions:
Validates and cleans the imported data
Converts empty string values to NULL for most fields
Sets default values of '0' for Required and Remember fields when they are empty
Inserts the records into the SurveyQuestions table
This EDBL routine uses DISTINCT when inserting records, which helps prevent duplicate entries from being created.
Note that this routine appears to be focused on adding new records rather than updating existing ones, so it works best with the "Add Only" import action.
Fields And Definitions
SurveyQuestionID - Integer value that uniquely identifies each survey question. If left empty, the system will generate a new ID.
ObjectiveID - Integer value that links the question to an objective. This field can be left empty if the question is not associated with an objective.
Question - Text field (up to 300 characters) containing the actual survey question text that will be presented to users.
DataType - Text field (up to 18 characters) specifying the type of data expected in the answer (e.g., Text, Integer, Yes/No, etc.).
Required - Yes/No field indicating whether answering this question is mandatory. If left empty, defaults to 'No' (0).
SurveySectionID - Integer value linking the question to a specific survey section. Questions are organized within sections.
Remember - Integer value that determines if previous answers should be remembered. If left empty, defaults to 'No' (0).
SurveyQuestionDescription - Text field (up to 352 characters) for additional descriptive information about the question.
Sequence - While not explicitly defined in the field list, this field is used during the import process and determines the order of questions within a section.
Best Practices
Always include SurveySectionID to properly organize questions
Provide a Sequence value for each question to ensure they appear in the desired order
Specify the appropriate DataType to ensure correct answer validation
Use clear, concise language in the Question field
