The BinCounts EDBL routine allows you to import bin count records into the system. These records associate products with bins for inventory counting purposes. The routine can create new bin count records or update existing ones based on the selected import action.

When importing, the system will:

  1. Map external identifiers (translations) to internal system IDs for locations, bins, and products

  2. Check if bin count records already exist for the specified bin and product combinations

  3. Create new records or update existing ones according to the selected import action

  4. Associate the bin count records with bin count tasks if specified

The routine supports all import actions: Add Only, Update Only, or Add or Update

Fields And Definitions

  • LocationID_Translation: External system's identifier for the location. Used to match with existing locations in the system.

  • LocationID: Internal system ID for the location. If not provided, defaults to the current user's location.

  • BinID_Translation: External system's identifier for the bin. Used to match with existing bins in the system.

  • BinID: Internal system ID for the bin.

  • ProductID_Translation: External system's identifier for the product. Used to match with existing products in the system.

  • ProductID: Internal system ID for the product.

  • BinCountTaskID: ID of an existing bin count task to associate with the bin count records

Best Practices

  • Provide translations (external identifiers) for locations, bins, and products to ensure proper matching with existing records

  • If bin count records already exist for the specified bin and product combinations, consider using the "Update Only" action to avoid duplicates

  • Use "Add or Update" action when you want to create new records and update existing ones in a single import

  • Include the BinCountTaskID if you want to associate the bin counts with a specific bin count task

  • For large inventory operations, consider creating a bin count task first and then associating bin counts with it

  • Ensure all referenced entities (locations, bins, products) exist in the system before importing

  • Test imports with a small sample file before processing large datasets
