Fields And Definitions

  • Name - This is an alphanumeric field and will only be relevant within the contract. Name this something simple and transparent. If you're contracting bags of malt in 2026, a suggested Contract Period name is "2026MaltBags".

  • Start Date - This is the date you will begin receiving product, also referred to as the pricing date. This is important because Production Cloud will recognize the contracted costs as the default costs for contracted products.

  • End Date - This is the latest date you will receive product, also referred to as the fulfillment date. This is important because Production Cloud will recognize the contracted costs as the default costs for contracted products.

  • Quantity - This is the package quantity, or inventory unit, which is noted underneath the product.

  • Price Per Unit - Purchase contracts support unit pricing to 6 decimals of precision. The extended price will automatically update based on quantity times unit price.

  • Contract Cost - Contract costs are explicit costs, not included in the price of the product(s), that are known at contract signing and will apply to all product(s) on the contract.

  • Vendor - This is almost always a different vendor than you are contracted with.

  • Cost Type - 'Freight' and 'Other Cost' are the only available selections. The 'Tax' field is an excise-tax-only field that should be automatically calculated.

Best Practices

  • Contract periods can be updated, edited, and rebalanced later through the 'Edit' button on the Purchase Contract View dashboard.
