Substitutes for malt are rice, grain of any kind, bran, glucose, sugar, and molasses.

Configuring Customers

Customers can be categorized with a TTB Tax Code that the BRO will pull data from. For initial TTB reporting configuration, we will want to ensure the proper Tax Code is set for the tavern on brewery premises (the taproom) as well as any contract brewing partners that receive beer from the facility without payment of tax.

Setting up Tavern on Brewery Premises Customers

If your brewery is classified as a ‘brewpub’ or contains a ‘tavern on brewery premises’, you will need to set up the relevant Customer record through the following steps:

1. Using Universal Search, navigate to the Customers table

2. Select the Customer that represents your tavern on brewery premises

3. On the TTB Tax Code field, select Tavern on Brewery Premises and click save

Setting up Contract Partner Customers for Beer Removed Without Payment of Tax

If your brewery produces beer for another brewery Customer of the same or different ownership and you will not be tax liable for these removals, you will need to set up these Customers through the following steps:

1. Using Universal Search, navigate to the Customers table

2. Select the Customer that you invoice beer to without payment of tax

3. On the TTB Tax Code field, select Removed Without Payment of Tax to Other Breweries and click save

  • Note: If these Customers also receive tax paid removals from your brewery, an additional customer must be added to reflect this

Setting up Contract Partner Vendors for Beer Received in Bond

If your brewery purchases beer in bond from another brewery to be taxed upon removal from your facility, you will need to set up these Vendors through the following steps:

1. Using Universal Search, navigate to the Vendors table

2. Select the Vendor that you invoice beer to without payment of tax

3. On the TTB Tax Code field, select Received In Bond and click save

Fields And Definitions

Tax Entities - The manufacturing facility represented by your Brewer’s Notice

Product Types - The term which describes a specific group of Products

  • TTB Process Type: Bottled and TTB Process Type: Canned will both report as ‘Bottling’ on the BRO

  • TTB Process Type: Racked will report under the ‘Racking’ columns on the BRO (aka: kegged finished goods)

Brands - For the BRO, the Brands table will allow you to define the TTB Category

  • TTB Category: ‘Beer’ should be used for all beer brands

  • TTB Category: ‘Cereal Beverage - Below .5% ABV’ should be used for all non-alcoholic beer brands

Best Practices

  • All Load Sheets must be in ‘Balanced’ Status to accurately reflect removals data for the BRO date period chosen

  • When adding new Brands, ensure that you set the correct TTB Brand Category brands without a TTB Brand Category will be omitted from the BRO
