Minimum Version Required: 25.01

Pre-Conditions

  • Production Order has been scheduled and is in Planned/In Progress Status

  • Production Components are in Planned Status

  • Products have been Received into inventory on a Purchase

Steps

If a User goes to assign a Production Component and sees no available inventory, there could be a few different reasons as to why.

Product has zero inventory:

  • A Product that has a Product Type with TrackInventory=True must consume inventory when it is used. If Raw Material was not put on a Purchase and Received into inventory, then it will not be available. If WIP is to be consumed, the Production Order that created it must be completed for that inventory to be available.

  • If inventory was over-consumed and driven negative previously, then Received (RM)/Created (WIP)will backfill the negative values and may result in understated inventory on floor.

TO FIX: Ensure all Purchases with the RM/WIP are in Received Status at the same Location that Production is processing. Ensure all Production Orders that make WIP at that Location have been completed.

Product is in Inventory but not available:

  • A Product that is set to either TrackBatchCodes (TBC), TrackCodeDates (TCD) or TrackVintages (TV) = TRUE will require Bin Lots to be used in Production Processing. When material is through a Production Order or Received on a Purchase, if TBC, TCD or TV = TRUE, then Users will have to record a batch, date or vintage to record that layer of inventory.

TO FIX in Non-WMS: Un-Receive the Purchase, enter the required fields, then re-receive the Purchase. If Bin Lots are still not created, make sure the DefaultPickBin set in Default Bins table has a Bin Zone with TrackBinLots=TRUE

TO FIXin WMS: Perform an inventory count by Bin Lot on the handheld. When the inventory is counted, use the Date, Code or Vintage that Product requires as set on its record.

Fields And Definitions

  • Products.TrackBatchCodes - When set to TRUE, this requires every layer of inventory of a Product to have a Batch Code assigned to it. Users will be unable to interact with inventory of this Product unless a Batch Code has been assigned to that layer of inventory.

  • Products.TrackCodeDates - When set to TRUE, this requires every layer of inventory of a Product to have a Code Date assigned to it. Users will be unable to interact with inventory of this Product unless a Code Date has been assigned to that layer of inventory.

  • Products.TrackVintages - When set to TRUE, this requires every layer of inventory of a Product to have a Batch Code assigned to it. Users will be unable to interact with inventory of this Product unless a Batch Code has been assigned to that layer of inventory.

Best Practices

  • Set TBC or TCD = TRUE on all WIP Products since those fields are auto-filled in Production

  • Only track Batches and Codes where it is necessary for operations to function. Tracking inventory layers adds complexity to receiving and production
