Minimum Version Required: 24.01

Pre-Conditions

  • A Report or Report Graph widget must be added to the dashboard first before an Omni Filter can be added.

  • The filters or variables from the reports that will be added to the omni filter must be pinned.

Steps

  1. Create any reports that will be displayed and filtered on the dashboard

  2. Create a new dashboard or edit an existing dashboard

  3. Add any reports and report graphs to the dashboard

  4. Add an 'Omni-Filter' widget to the dashboard

  5. Select the filters you would like to use from your reports (only pinned filters or variables can be added), or create a custom filter (must match the name of the report filters exactly)

  6. After selecting a filter, determine the filter's properties:

-Primary filters will always be displayed in the filter row.

-Non-primary filters will be stored inside the 'Add Filter' menu and grouped by Category. Select up to 4 filters to be primary. Dashboard viewers can select a non-primary filter from the menu to add it to the row of filters and apply it to the dashboard view.

    - The properties of each filter will default to the filter properties from the report. To change the filter to use a different set of properties, set the desired properties in the inline add row and click the + button. Select which set of properties to be used.

  7. Save the dashboard

  8. Use the new filters to filter all of the reports and graphs on the dashboard at once

Issue

Likely Cause

Solution

Filter is missing from selection list

The filter isn't pinned in the report.

Open the source report, find the filter/variable, and click the Pin icon. Save the report.

Filter only updates some reports

Naming mismatch or different fields.

Check that all reports use the same table field. If using a Custom Filter, ensure the name is an exact text match to the report column.

"Add Filter" menu is empty

No non-primary filters selected.

Edit the Omni Filter widget and ensure you have assigned additional pinned filters as "Non-Primary."

Best Practices

  • Only pinned filters and variables from Fusion reports can be added to omni filters.

  • Configure pinned variables and filters in your reports the same way they should be display on the dashboard. This ensures that the default filters in the omni filter can be used without requiring any modification to the properties.

  • Use the same table field and settings for all filters and variables with the same name across dashboard reports. This ensures that the omni filter will pass in the filter value the same way to all report filters.

  • A custom filter can be added for filtering comparison reports or table views. The custom filter name must be an exact text match to the comparison filter or table view column.
