Best Practices
When setting up a Promotion, you have the option to set a field, All Products = True/False. This field can be useful when utilized correctly.
Business Case:
The All Products field is used in special cases where a promotion affects all products.
This becomes very useful when you are trying to set up an Inventory Adjustment customer. In this use case, users would expect all products invoiced for that customer would be zero, as you do not want it to affect Income.
Another popular use case is Transfer customers or Employee customers that get charged Laid-In cost for all products. In this use case, users would expect all products to be invoiced at cost.
Not Used For:
The All Products should not be used for other Promotion Types such as Frontline, Discount, and Pricing. These promotion types are segmented to a specific Products and therefore are not good candidates for this functionality.
Note:
Encompass will always look for the best price, regardless of the All Products flag. Therefore, if a customer belongs to both a Promotion Zone (All Products = True) and a Promotion Zone (All Products = False), you would remove this customer from the Discount Zone to ensure they are not eligible for any discounts.
When setting up Inventory Adjustment or Transfer customers, it is important to ensure they are only tied to promotion zones that qualify them for the correct pricing. If they are tied to any other zones, you can go to the Customers Promotions Zones table to remove the customer from any unnecessary zones. If the source on the Customers Promotion Zone = Customer you will need to change the zone on the Customer record. If the source on the Customer Promotions Zone = Chain you will need to remove the promo zone on the chain record.
