Steps
Dashboard & Workflows:
Empty State Dashboard:
1. Create a new report: This creates a new sales report which is identical for all users. This step must be taken the first time a user accesses the dashboard.
This report is built from a template and will be the same initial report for all users.
2. Visit saved reports: This takes the user to the Saved Reports dashboard - all Power BI reports, by default, will be saved under the General category.
There will be no saved Power BI reports initially, users must use the Save (File -> Save as new report) function while interacting with the report in the hosted instance.
Create a New Report:
1. This report will populate once the user selects Create a New Report.
The date range, filters, and visualizations will be applied automatically.
2. To save this report, click File -> Save as.
a. Reports.
b. Anytime a report is saved, it must be saved as a new report.
c. Deleting a Power BI report from saved reports will also delete the report from the Power BI workspace.
This is highly recommended to avoid reaching the 1,000 report limit.
3. Report tabs can be renamed by right-clicking on the report tab on the bottom bar and selecting the Rename option.
4. To create a new visualization from scratch, click the "+" icon on the bottom bar, next to the active report tab.
New Reports:
1. Click the "+" icon on the bottom bar.
2. Use the Data section (far right) to begin selecting data to report on.
Use the search function or the dropdown option to find the necessary data field(s).
3. Use the Filters section (to the right of the report visualization) to apply filters to the report.
Use the search function or drag & drop fields to the filters section.
Additional options for filtering specific data are available once the filter exists.
4. Use the Visualization section (between Filters & Data) to select the visualization model(s) best suited for the data that is being reported.
Multiple visualizations can be added to the same report.
Visualizations are fully interactable including movement and resizing.
Saved Reports:
1. Click the Visit Saved Reports button.
2. Run the report wanted from the Saved Reports dashboard.
This is the standard Saved Reports dashboard, there is no filtering only to show Power BI reports.
3. All Power BI reports will open in the Advanced Analytics dashboard.
Power BI reports are designated by Reports.SourcePage = Power BI and Reports.ReportURL has the Power BI Report ID populated.
