Steps

Mobile Applications represent the interface a user sees when viewing Encompass Mobile. Mobile Applications can be customized to add, remove, and modify Mobile Items (the individual pages in Encompass Mobile). Each Role can be assigned a different Mobile Application to give a customized view for each Role.

Create A New Mobile Application

It is recommended to copy an existing Mobile Application to get started. Copying an existing Mobile Application will also copy all of the Mobile Links.

1. Navigate to the Mobile Applications table using the Universal Search bar.

2. Arrow into the Mobile Application you want to copy.

3. Click "Sub Tables"

4. Click "Copy Mobile Applications"

5. Rename the Mobile Application

6. Click "Copy Record"

7. Click "View New Records"

Modify Mobile Links

The existing Mobile Link (buttons) can be modified from the Mobile Application record. The Mobile Items must already exist before creating Mobile Links.

1. Click Sub Tables -> Mobile Links.

2. To delete a Mobile Link, click the hamburger menu on the record and click "Delete".

3. To add a new Mobile Link, click "Add Mobile Links".

4. Name the Mobile Link. The Name will be displayed as the title of the button in Encompass Mobile.

5. Set the From and ToMobile Items.

6. Click "Add Record"

Test the Mobile Application

Once the Mobile Application is complete, allow at least 30 minutes for it to be available on Encompass Mobile.

1. On Encompass Mobile, manually sync then tap "Control Panel" on the home screen.

2. Tap "Complete Settings"

3. Expand the "Mobile Applications" drop-down menu.

4. Select the new Mobile Application.

5. Tap the back arrow to return to the home screen.

Assign A Mobile Application To A Role

Once you have tested the Mobile Application, assign it to a Role. If the Mobile Application is not assigned to a role, the only way to access it is through Complete Settings.

1. Navigate to the Roles table.

2. Select the Role and click "Edit".

3. Set the "EM Mobile Application" field to the new Mobile Application.

4. Save Changes

5. The next time users with the Role sync, they will see the new Mobile Application.

Fields And Definitions

*=Required field

*Mobile Application
- The record that holds the Mobile Links and Mobile Items.

*Mobile Items - Individual destinations in Encompass Mobile. Each page that you visit is a Mobile Item.

*Mobile Links - The record that defines where buttons are displayed and where the button redirects the user.

*From Mobile Item - Where a button in Encompass Mobile is displayed. Ex. Home - Encompass Mobile to display the link on the Home screen.

*To Mobile Item - Where the user is redirected when clicking on the Mobile Link (button).

Category - When Mobile Links have a value in the "Category" field, they will display in a folder named as the Category. Multiple Mobile Links can be set to the same Category to be in the same folder.

Sequence - Numerical value to set where a Mobile Link will display in relation to the other Mobile Links on the same screen.

*Grid Layout - Defaults to "Main" which is the main view of the each page in Encompass Mobile. Navigation Tools and Navigation Menu allow you to add Mobile Links to the "hamburger menus" throughout the application.

Best Practices

  • The Default Mobile Application cannot be edited.

  • It is recommended to copy an existing Mobile Application when creating a new one. If you do not copy and existing Mobile Application, you will need to manually add each Mobile Link (button).

  • Utilizing custom Mobile Applications is great for minimizing buttons available on Encompass Mobile that certain Roles won't need to utilize. For example, removing the Warehouse Mobile Link from a Sales Rep's view.

  • Frequently used reports, dashboards or any other pages on the server of Encompass can be linked as a new button in a Custom Mobile Application by creating a new Mobile Item.

  • The Mobile Item records must exist before adding a Mobile Link.

  • Test new Mobile Applications before assigning them to a Role to ensure they are working as expected.
