Steps
Purpose
The purpose of this tool is to pick orders from a different location.
How to navigate to Alternate Locations
The Alternate Locations dashboard is accessible when going to any of the Delivery Optimizer related tabs, such as Import Conflicts, Out of Stock Rules, Delivery Optimizer, etc;
Using Alternate Locations
The Alternate Locations tab is strategically located to support the left-to-right workflow for processing orders for delivery. It is recommended that Import Conflicts are processed before taking the following steps using Alternate Locations. Once those steps are completed, continue working across the tabs from left to right.
Filters
Filtering on the delivery date and location that you want the product to be picked from is most important. Use any other filters as necessary.
Date = LoadSheet - Date
Location = LoadSheet - Location
Alternate Location = Alternate location on Aternate Locations table.
Route = LoadSheet - Route
Truck Group = LoadSheet - Truck Group
Customer Pick Type = Customers - Customer Pick Type
Product Group = Product Group on Alternate Location Table. Filters on product within the product group
Product Pick Type = Inventory - Product Pick Type Effective
Product Type = Products - Product Type
Product = Invoice Trans - Product
Supplier = Products - Supplier
Customer Account Type = Customer Types - Customer Account Type
Use Alternate Locations = Inventory - Use Alternate Locations
Pick Partial Cases: 1) All Locations = Bottle pick or partial cases will be picked from all locations. 2) Alternate Location Only = Bottle pick or partial cases will ONLY be picked from the alternate locations. So partial transactions will be picked even if the satellite location has inventory.
Show All Transactions: True = Show transactions even if the satellite locations have enough inventory. This would allow the alternate location to still pick products even though the satellite location has enough inventory.
Show Alternate Pick Transaction = When true, this will show transactions that have been previously set to be picked from an alternate location. This is a way to "undo" transactions.
NOTE: Click on the column headers to provide additional filtering and sorting
Options for Selecting Transactions
Select all transactions by clicking on the checkbox in the header.
Select a range of transactions by clicking the first transaction, then shift+click on the last transaction.
Click the Pick from Alternate Location or Delivery From Alternate Location button to process the selected transactions’
Be sure to run Out of Stock Rules, and Close Dated Product after running Alternate Locations.
Using Delivery Optimizer with Alternate Locations
It is expected that routes for invoices processed in alternate locations will show up when filtering on the alternate location in Delivery Optimizer. For example, the non-alternate location’s routes will show when filtering on the Alternate Location in Deliver Optimizer.
Using the Alternate Locations filter in Delivery Optimizer (only available if setting 555 is true)
The Alternate Locations filter is useful to filter out the data in the Delivery Optimizer to what is to be picked out of the alternate location, or not to be picked out of the alternate location.
From Delivery Optimizer, if filtering on the Alternate Location:
Show All: All routes and transactions will be displayed (current behavior).
Hide All: Only the Routes where the Location on the Route equals the Alternate Location will be displayed. In other words, do not show any routes from other locations.
Show Trans Only: Only show routes and transactions from other locations that will be picked out of the Alternate Location.
From Delivery Optimizer, if filtering on another location and NOT the Alternate Location:
Show All: All routes and transactions will be displayed.
Hide All: Only the routes and transactions to be picked out of the selected location will be displayed. So, any transactions to be picked out of the Alternate Location will be hidden.
Show Trans Only: Only routes and transactions will be displayed are set to be picked out of the Alternate Location, so normally nothing will be displayed.
Warehouse Truck Return
During truck return, if there is good product getting returned to the Alternate Location and that is not going to be redelivered due to mis-shipments, customer refusal, etc; It is recommended to create a reason code “Good Return to Alternate Location”. A return rule should be used to help get the product out of the satellite location using an invoice or putting product into a specified bin.
Return Rules: Using an Adj Customer -
Invoice is created during the return process and the product will be taken out of the satellite inventory by an invoice. This could be an invoice for every route and every day.
Return Rules: Using a Return Bin -
During the return process, the inventory will be accumulated to a specified return bin, where it can invoiced when the product is shipped back to the alternate location
When the product is physically returned to the alternate location, a purchase should be created for the alternate location so it can be received back into inventory.
