Creating A Write-Off Product

Distributor steps for creating a non-inventory write-off product in Encompass and mapping its Income Account Maps so AR can be written off to a chosen GL account. Requires v21.01+.

Pre-Conditions

Steps

  1. Create a Non-Inventory Product
    ​
    ​    *Tip - Copy an existing Non-Inventory Product
    ​
    ​

  2. From the Product Record, Go to Subtables -> Income Account Maps
    ​
    ​

  3. Map the Account you'd like to write AR off to in all fields.

Fields And Definitions

  • Non Inventory Product - A Product record that does not have inventory tracked in the system
    ​
    ​

  • Income Account Map - A mapping that determines how sales related to a given Product, Supplier or Product Type impact the General Ledger

Best Practices

  • Non Inventory Products can be used to post a line item on an Invoice or Purchase to a specific Account.
    ​
    ​

  • They can also be used to write off AR or add additional charges to an invoice.
