Steps

How to set up Bin Zones

In order to create Bin Lots, a Bin Zone will be designated to require Pallet Tag scanning. When this is changed, any movement of a pallet into or out of the Bin Zone will require a scan of the pallet tag.

1. In Encompass, search for Bin Zones

2. Edit the Bin Zone that will monitor and create Bin Lots. Edit “Require Pallet Tag” from No to Always: Transactional Bin Lots

How to Create Bin Lots

Bin Lot records are created when performing a Move in PocketWMS into the Bin Zone created in "How to set up Bin Zones". This section will step through that process.

1. On the handheld, navigate to PocketWMS. Click Move.

2. Scan the From Bin. This feature is intended to be used upon Receiving, so this will most likely be the Receiving bin, but Bin Lots will be created whenever a pallet is moved into or out of the Bin Zones edited in “How to set up Bin Zones”

3. Select a product in the From Bin. Check that an entire pallet is about to be moved.

4. Select a Bin inside the Bin Zone that has “Require Pallet Tag = True” that was set up in “How to set up Bin Zones.” A prompt will appear to scan the Pallet Tag for the Pallet that is being moved.

5. After the Pallet Tag is scanned, a Bin Lot will be created on the Bin Lots table. See the next section. Currently, Bin Lots are created when performing a move on PocketWMS. This action will also occur in Directed Replenish and Directed Inventory.

How to View Bin Lots on WMS Handheld

1. On the handheld, navigate to pocket WMS. Click Warehouse Search.

2. Scan product, then tap the plus button next to a Bin to display all the Lots within that Bin

How to Count Bin Lots

Counting of Bin Lots must occur if the total Bin inventory entered during a count does not match the existing count in the system. At that point, the counter will be prompted to enter specific quantities for each Lot in the Bin.

1. On the handheld, navigate to pocket WMS. Click Inventory Count

2. Scan Bin/Product and enter count

3. If entered count does not match expected count, user will be prompted and required to enter specific quantities of each Lot in that Bin

How to View/Track on Bin Lots Table

When pallets are scanned and moved into or out of a Bin Zone with Require Pallet Tag = Always, Bin Lot records are created on the Bin Lots table.

1. Search for the Bin Lots table

2. On this table, each pallet and its original Purchase Trans ID can be seen as it moves around the warehouse. Notice that, although we have multiple records for the same product, we have differing Purchase Trans ID.

3. Click on a Purchase Trans ID for a product, and hit the plus button next to “Layer”. This is where the actual code date for that pallet is stored.

Following these steps will allow you to more accurately and easily monitor code dates for pallets as they move into and out of specific Bin Zones.
