Minimum Version Required: 23.10

Pre-Conditions

Once this feature is enabled, all PdOs and their respective Purchases for the associated Vendor(s) must be Verified through this workflow.

  • System Setting 553 = True

  • Vendors.ConfirmProductionCost = True (this is for all Production Vendors)

  • ProductionOrders.Status = Confirmed

  • User must have Production Edit permission

  • ProductionOrders.ProductionOrderType <> SAP Imported

Steps

Empty State Dashboard:

  • For ANY results to show, the Production Vendor(s) must be set to Confirm Production Cost = True.

  • All filters will be empty to begin, at least one filter must be filled to return results.

  • If no filters are filled in, a snackbar will appear at the bottom of the screen saying to please select filters.

Apply Filters:

1. Once the desired filter(s) have been populated, clicking Apply Filters will bring results.

2. The initial view will be at the Batch level and list the most important information. Total Value, specifically, is a sum of the Produced value of all Production Orders in that Batch.

3. Clicking the + icon will expand the view to all Completed Production Orders for the associated Batch(es).

4. Viewing the “drill down” section on the right, for an output Product (ProductionOrders.Product) gives instant insight into produced cost, historical cost, and inventoried cost:

  • Produced at gives the selected Product's completed output cost for the selected Production Order - hover over the tooltip for 6 decimal places of precision

  • Last produced at will tell you the produced cost of the Product on the most recent Verified Production Order - tooltip gives the date the Production Order was completed

  • Current cost will match the Current Laid-In Cost (FIFO) or the current Average Cost (Average) - tooltip tells the user if the Product is using FIFO or Average costing

  • Product Cost Plan will only populate if a Product Cost Plan exists for the selected Product

  • Bottom right section will show the five most recent, Verified, Production Orders for the selected Product, giving you a snapshot comparison of costing trends

Production Components:

1. Clicking the + icon next to a Production Order will populate a list of all Production Components. This gives you the full view of every contributing factor to the costing of the output product.

2. Clicking on a Production Component will populate the drill down section with relevant costing information.

3. The top section of the Production Component drill down contains:

  • The Product and it's assigned Package (purchasing unit) listed underneath - this is to give immediate reference when there is a discrepancy between purchasing unit and consumption unit

  • Consumed at cost - gives the selected Product's consumed Unit of Measure cost for the selected Production Order to easily compare purchasing unit costing and historically consumed unit costing - hover over the tooltip for 6 decimal places of precisionl

  • Product Cost Plan - This field only appears if a Product Cost Plan for the Product exists and will reference the Case Cost (which is identical to the purchasing unit cost)

  • Last consumed at is an immediate reference to the Verified costing used the last time this Product was consumed as a Production Component - the tooltip gives you the completion date of the Production Order being referenced

  • Current cost is the active costing for the purchasing unit which references the Current Laid-In Cost (FIFO) or Average Cost (Average) - hover over the tooltip to see if the Product is using FIFO or Average costing

  • Note: Only production components with actual units greater than 0 will be shown in this section

The bottom right section of the Production Component drill down contains all Purchase Transactions (costing layers) that currently have On Hand inventory - this is relevant for both FIFO and Average costing because this information is ALL FIFO layers to show the user the upcoming trends in costing AND all costing layers that contribute to the Average Cost calculation.

Verify Costing:

1. Once you have reviewed and confirmed all input and output costing appears as expected, proceed to Verify Costing. Once this feature is enabled, all PdOs and their respective Purchases for the associated Vendor(s) must be Verified through this workflow.

2. When the user clicks the Verify Costing button, the screen will appear very similar to AR Aging, AP Aging, Inventory Bins Write-Off, etc. with a checkbox enabled multi-select view, condensed to the Batch level.

3. Clicking the + icon will expand the view to the Production Order level. You can select the entire Batch, individual Production Orders, and any combination of those to quickly verify the costing they have reviewed and confirmed.

4. Once the desired Batch(es) and Production Order(s) have been selected, clicking the Verify button at the bottom of the screen will Verify all related Production Orders.

Fields And Definitions

Vendors.ConfirmProductionCost - this field enables and requires Production Orders from this Vendor to be Verified through the Production Costing Confirmation dashboard

Best Practices

  • Set Vendors.ConfirmProductionCost = True for all Production Vendors

  • Show In Progress Batches = True

  • If costing on the Production Component summary does not appear accurate, click the Production Component to get detailed information

  • Two decimal places of precision are shown, hover over the tooltip of Produced at or Consumed at to get 6 decimal places of precision (detailed costing)
