What it is:
Auto-Bump to Quantity Discounts is a process for Distributors to help ensure specific chains and customers are able to receive the expected pricing based on what they have bought. After an invoice is created, the system will look at the auto-bump rules to determine if there is a product on the invoice tied to an auto-bump promotion that needs to have its quantity increased to meet a minimum promotion amount. There needs to be a product on the invoice that is part of a promotion on the Auto-Bump Rules table for the auto-bump logic to be triggered. If the system determines there is a transaction that needs to be bumped, an import routine runs to automatically add the auto-bump product to the invoice to meet the minimum quantity on the promotion so they receive the deal.
How it Works:
Auto Bump Rules Promotion Table
Auto-Bump rules are set up on the Auto-Bump Promotion Rules table. This is where the Distributor will set the rules for Auto-Bump Promotions. On this table, they can specify a Chain or a Customer that will qualify for the rule. The table is inclusive and will include only records set on this table for the Auto-Bump Rules. They will also need to select a start and end date to determine when this rule will take effect. Finally, the distributor will set the promotion and auto-bump product on these rules. By setting a promotion, we are determining the minimum quantity we want the customer purchasing for a set of products and the set of products itself. If the customer has not purchased this minimum quantity, there is an import routine that will use the Auto-Bump product set on the rules table to qualify the invoice for the promotion.
Reports and Import routine
After Rules have been specified on the Auto-Bump Promotion Rules Table, there is a report that is run automatically to determine the invoices that need to be adjusted or bumped. The report is looking for New Invoices that were not created by EDI in between the start and end date on the Auto-Bump Promotion Rules Table and the start and end of the promotion. If the report finds an invoice that has products from the Auto-Bump Promotion Rules Table that do not add up to the minimum order quantity, it will report the difference between the minimum order quantity and the current amount on the invoice.
