Fields And Definitions

  • Suppliers - The business that creates and maintains the brand, is typically but not always the company that makes the product.

  • Brands - A grouping of similarly branded products. This is used primarily for reporting purposes and also in controlling what brands are available for distribution in a given area.

  • Products - in Encompass, a product is a unique configuration (a SKU).

  • Product Types - A group of similar products. This group determines reports, taxes, and how to distribute to different groups of customers.

  • Packages - A group of products that share similar physical attributes. An example would be a ½ Barrel Keg or a 4/6 pack 12oz Can.

  • Allocations - A reservation or restriction on Products. Can be set on a Customer, Chain, Sales Rep, Customer Type, or On/Off Premise.

  • Promotions Products - A record that ties a product to a promotion at a certain price or discount.

  • Product Cost Plans - Overrides the cost on a Purchase Order to standardize product cost for an individual Product and Location.

Best Practices

  • The recommended workflow is to add "New Products" using the Global Products list to ensure accuracy in Product data. For this workflow, review the single product or multiple products guide.

  • Products are unique combinations of packages and contents inside the package. If the contents are different (ABV, flavor, etc.), or if the package is different (configuration, materials, etc.) then it is time for a new product record.
