How to Use Suppliers Table

Supplier Families and Supplier are the top two levels of the product heirachy. Maintaining these records ensures accurate reporting and organizational clarity.

How to Create a New Supplier

1. Use the Universal Search bar to find the Suppliers table.

2. Click the Add Suppliers button.

3. Enter the name of the supplier.

4. Set Status to Active.

  • Note: You should only change status to Inactive if you no longer do business with them. This can only be done once all downstream hierarchy items (brands, products) are also set to inactive.

5. Click Add Record

  • Once a supplier is created, many fields of the Supplier record will automatically populate once the record is linked to the Global Database.

Subtables

1. Add the Suppliers Users Sub Table to tie a User to a Supplier

2. Add the Supplier Vendors Sub Table to tie a Vendor to a Supplier

3. Add the Suppliers Areas Sub Table to restrict distribution from Distribution Areas

Fields And Definitions

  • Supplier - the name of the supplier. Suppliers correspond to the entity that supplies the product. These can be any sort of manufacturer or a specific conglomerate of manufacturers.

  • Global Supplier Family: This is inherited from the Supplier Families table in dsdlink, which is maintained by Encompass. The Supplier Families table in your site is effectively just a read-only version of the dsdlink table.

  • Supplier Family: This is an open text field that is specific to your Suppliers table only. You are free to update it how you please. This field is also the one that is used in Comparison Reports.

  • Status - Used to indicate if a Supplier is Active or Discontinued

Best Practices

  • We assume distribution of all products unless you RESTRICT. In other words, for a given Supplier that should NOT be distributed in Area A, you need a Supplier Area that is Active = False
