Fields And Definitions
*WMS Replenish Plan - This field controls the name of the WMS Replenish Plan.
*Priority - This field controls the sequence of assignment for existing WMS Replenish Tasks when multiple Replenish Plans overlap.
*Move Unit - This field determines the quantity by which product will be moved. There are 3 options: Case, Layer, and Pallet.
Pallet Type - This field references the Pallet Types table, which controls the dimensions, or space available, on a physical pallet. For WMS Replenish Plans where Move Unit = Case, Pallet Type should be set. This data will be used to calculate pallet and product dimensions to determine how many cases can fit onto one pallet, and thus one move task. Plans where Pallet Type is not specified will always create one task per product.
Start Time - This field will control what time you want the system to start generating replenishment tasks for the plan. This is not a required field and users have the option to manually create their own tasks on their handheld devices
End Time - This field controls what time you want the system to stop generating replenishment tasks, and expire any leftover tasks for the plan. This is not a required field, but if you have a start time set, set an end time as well.
*Dynamic Pick - This field has two options: True, and False, and is ONLY used if for a singular Dynamic Pick Replenish Plan per location. The need for a Dynamic Pick Replenish Plan is based on the presence of "Dynamic" Pick Rules, previously known as "Oddball" Pick Rules. Set this field to True on the Dynamic Pick Replenish Plan, then create WMS Replenish Rules that help control the confirmation actions needed during dynamic picking.
*Sort Method - This field has three options: To Bin, From Bin, and Quantity Needed. This will allow Move Task Trans to be sorted in the task either by Bin Sequence or by the Quantity needed, which is the (To Bin Inventories. Inventory - To Bin Inventories. Target Inventory) / To Bin Inventories Target Inventory.
*Pre-Generate Tasks - This field has two options: True, and False. When set to True, the system will automatically create replenishment tasks in advance, based on the Start Time and End Time of a plan. When set to False, tasks will not be created in advance, but can instead be prompted to generate On Demand when a user taps "Begin" in the Directed Replenishment section of a WMS handheld.
Using the On Demand method will create 5 tasks at a time, based on the most relevant replenishments needed at the time of creation. Users can continue to tap "Begin" after tasks are completed to get more work.
Best Practices
When naming WMS Replenish Plans, clear and precise naming conventions work best.
Names can vary quite a bit, but should reflect the area of the warehouse users are replenishing (pick lines, flow racks, etc.), or the type of replenishment occurring (replenishing to the amount ordered, to capacity target days of inventory, case, layer, etc.).
When deciding whether or not to pre-generate WMS Replenish Tasks, we recommend the On Demand method of replenishment task generation.
This ensures the most up-to-date information is being used to create tasks, as opposed to using inventory data right at the start time of a WMS Replenish Plan.
