Fields And Definitions

In Encompass a Product is a unique product configuration

  • A product belongs to one and only one Brand

  • A product belongs to one and only one Package

  • A product belongs to one and only one Product Type

  • There will be one instance of a product in an Encompass site, this product may be sold across companies or locations–inventory is maintained separately per location.

  • Users cannot put something on an invoice unless there is a Product record like Sales Tax, Fuel Surcharges, or AR Write Off.

Best Practices

  • To check tax/deposit/fees associated with buying a product check out Invoice Charges.

  • If the user does not have All Locations = True permission on the user record, then they will only be able to see products that are currently active in that location, based on the Inventory record 'Active' status.
