Minimum Version Required: 22.01

Fields And Definitions

1. Backorders are products that are cut from an invoice or ordered to be delivered on a future date.

2. Backfills are products that were previously backordered that have now been put on an invoice.

  • System setting 85(Use Backorder in Promotion min Num Units calculation for Quantity Restricted Promotions) will control whether backorders are included in the calculation to determine if an invoice transaction qualifies for a promotion.

  • Backorders are stored on the customer history table.

  • Backorder date will be set to the invoice date the original order was delivered. Backorder date will update to the latest invoice date the product was ordered.

  • Backorder expiration is set based on the invoice date plus the amount of days specified in System setting 14(Default Backorder Expiration Days: Set Default Backorder Expiration Date to this many days after original requested delivery date).

  • When a backorder expires, the system will create an invoice transaction to show the backfill expired.

  • When out of stock rules runs, we will backfill full backorder amounts based on the priorities set.

  • Backorders can be keyed in manually during order entry, or generated from a product being reduced by a reason that has Auto-Backorder set to true.

Best Practices

The following criteria must be met for System Setting 29: Auto Backfill Backorders to complete:

  • System Settings - 29 = 'True'

  • Customer = 'Active'

  • Product = 'Active'

  • Inventory = 'Active'

  • Backorder Expiration Date >= {Local Today}

  • Backorder Quantity > 0

  • On Floor Inventory > Backorder Quantity

  • The code compares the Backorder Expiration Date agains the Invoice's Load Sheet Date, but for Invoices created on the handheld, there is not a Load Sheet yet, so that date is essentially {Local Today}.

  • Setting 29 does not work on loaded Load Sheets.
