    - Distribution Areas: designated boundary based on distribution limits

    - Counties: boundaries set by County lines

    - Charge Areas: typically used for tax reasons

    - Deposit Areas: typically used for invoice reasons

3. Click the Draw Polygon option

4. This gives you the option to draw the boundary in any shape

5. Click Assign To Boundaries drop down and choose the boundary name needed

Note: the boundaries available to assign to customers depend on the specific boundary type (ie. Territories, Distribution Areas, Charge Areas, Deposit Areas

6. Click Save

7. Click To Selected Territory under Assign Customers to assign the territory

8. The next screen shows a list of customers with their current and new territory

9. Click Confirm

10. The Territory field is updated on the Customer’s record

  • The fields updated in the Customers record will depend on the boundary type selected (example: Distribution Areas boundary type will be the Distribution Area field)

How to update a customer geocode location

1. Using the Universal Search, navigate to the Customer record

2. Click the Map button

3. This brings you to the interactive map with the customer’s map points showing

4. Either drag/drop the pin to the new location or type in an address in the address bar to update the Geocode Location

  • Note: this is useful when the customer has a different delivery location than their regular office location

5. Click Save

6. This brings you back to the Customer’s record. The longitude and latitude points will update and the GPS Accuracy field will change to Manually Set

Fields And Definitions

  • Geocoding dashboard - Mapped visualization of different physical boundary areas

Best Practices

  • Remember to check the Customer Geocode Dashboard regularly to make sure all customers have the correct Geocode locations. This is usually focused on more during setup

  • The boundary assignments are typically used for reporting and analysis; boundaries do not dictate route creation.
