Site Settings:
Setting ID 24 - DEX Distributor EDI Duns - This number is provided by Dun & Bradstreet. Their site provides a search tool if your organization already has a number or a means of requesting one.
Setting ID 39 - DEX UCCI Code - This 10 digit number simply needs to be a unique value to your organization. Most refer to their office’s phone number
Setting ID 475 - DEX: Automatically lock invoices after receiving a DEX signature - Sets an invoice to Locked = True after the DEX signature is received. This prevents any further changes.
For the Customer/Retailer:
Vendor Number set on the AR Account or split invoices- A value provided by the retailer.
Retailer DUNS Number on the Customer- Similar to your own organization’s DUNS number, this is a unique value, provided by the retailer.
Retailer UCCI Number on the Customer- Similar to your own organization’s UCCI number, this is a unique value, provided by the retailer.
Chain Store Number on the Customer Record - Provided by the customer, but typically referenced in their customer name.

What is DEX?
DEXing is the process between the transmitter or driver using the DEX handheld unit to connect directly to the store’s DEX System by means of a direct wiring connecting to the RCA jack and exchanging invoice information with the store’s DEX System software.
Best Practices
Need a different DUNs for individual product groups?
The split invoice record provides the Distributors Vendor DUNS field so specific DUNS can be provided if the product group is controlled by specific vendors.
UPC's and Unit of Measure:
Similar to how some chains require their EDI orders to use a different Unit Of Measure or UPC, DEXing can also reference these overrides on the Product Authorizations table. Additionally, UPCs can be overridden and referenced in DEXing on the Bar Code Search table. Incorrect UPCs may need to be removed from this table by deleting the record.
Split Invoices:
Split Invoicing record provides an option to override some of this information for individual retailers:
Vendor Num
Accept Dex Price Adjustments - Should the Wholesaler accept changes to pricing submitted by the retailer in the course of invoice transmission.
Troubleshooting DEX:
For Sales Reps: Connect to the PFDex Device via the Encompass Mobile app. Attempting to connect to the Dex Device via the handheld bluetooth settings likely will prevent successful transmissions.
For Administrators: Ensure Customer is using the correct values for DUNS and UCCI. Frequently, transmission will begin but will not complete successfully if the expected values for DUNS and UCCI do not match what's actually on the AR Account for the customer.
If the DEX transmission is repeatedly unsuccessful, uploading the database and logs from the handheld will allow Encompass Support to better understand underlying issues that may not yet be discovered.
