Minimum Version Required: 22.01

Pre-Conditions

Cloud Connector Requirements:

  • Windows 7 or newer

  • .Net Framework 4.5 or greater installed

  • Ports 443 open for outbound access. This allows the program to communicate with our servers

  • Port 5087-5093 and 8083 for echat access. This is used to receive commands to run from our server, specifically to IP addresses 52.40.235.151, 44.224.173.178, and 52.88.13.186

  • Local or network access to the machine hosting the data.

  • An ODBC connection to the server to pull data from. This can (and should) be read only access

Steps

This can be downloaded and installed from the Client Versions Table in Encompass

1. Using Universal Search, navigate to the Client Versions table.

2. Click the "Client Application" header, to access the filtering options.

3. Filter to all "Cloud Connector" applications.

Both versions of the cloud connector follow the following process:

1. Receive a command via WebSockets outlining a query to run on the server, along with the ODBC connection to use.

2. Execute the query on the indicated ODBC connection.

3. Return the results to our servers via an HTTPS connection.

Best Practices

The cloud connector has two different versions:

1. Installed as a service - this is the preferred version for data conversions. This allows us to pull data at need by utilizing a service installed to the machine. This requires admin access by the user installing the service.

2. A standalone executable - this is available if we cannot use the service-based version for any reason. This may need to be run as an admin depending on how the ODBC connection was setup.
