Client Upgrades: Min Version of Encompass Mobile

Distributor admin steps for setting a minimum Encompass Mobile version on the Client Upgrades table so drivers/reps on older Android or iOS versions are prompted, then required, to update. Requires v22.01+.

Steps

How to set up Client Version to Min Version

Setting a Min Version prompts users on Encompass Mobile to upgrade to the Min Version when they are using a lower version. They will be prompted 3 times to update. They can dismiss these prompts 3 times before they are "locked out" and required to update.

  1. Navigate to Client Upgrades under tables
    ​
    ​

  2. Click the edit icon to edit any current record, or click Add Client Upgrades button to add one instead
    ​
    ​

  3. If you click on edit icon, enter values to all required and applicable optional fields displayed the Edit Client Upgrades form and click then Save Changes button when complete

  4. If you click on Add Client Upgrades. Enter values to all required and applicable optional fields displayed the Add Client Upgrades form and click the Add Record button when complete

Fields And Definitions

  • Client Application- This determines which application gets upgraded.
    ​
    ​Example: Encompass Mobile App for Android, Encompass Mobile App for iOS, E8 for iOS, and E8 for Android.
    ​

  • Min Major Version - If populated, users will be automatically upgraded to the highest minor version within that major version.
    ​
    ​NOTE: If ClientUpgrade.ClientApplication = Encompass Mobile App for iOS, Min Major = 22.07. If ClientUpgrade.ClientApplication = Encompass Mobile App for Android, update after ECP upgrades.
    ​
    ​Example: If ECP = 22.09, Min Major Version = 22.09.
    ​
    ​Example: ClientUpgrades.MinMajorVersion = 22.06 Available Minor Versions: 22.06.0007, 22.06.0006, 22.06.0005, 22.06.0004, 22.06.0003, 22.06.0002, 22.06.0001 We will prompt upgrades to 22.06.0007, because it is the highest Minor Version within 22.06.

  • Client Version - If populated, it upgrades users to only this minor version.
    ​
    ​NOTE: Infrequently used, because everytime a new version is released it needs to be updated.
    ​
    ​NOTE: Location, Role, Day Of Week, User, Start Time: Keep these blank. This means upgrades automatically occur each time a new version is released and a user syncs.

Best Practices

  • If you are using an MDM, client upgrades are not necessary for iOS. The MDM program should control the flow of the updates coming from the iOS App Store
